  1. Professor Longnose says:

Pedroia makes the first error of the second hundred years at Fenway. Cool.

  2. Alex says:

    Nova with the 1-2-3 inning

  3. Professor Longnose says:

Nice game so far. Nova’s doing well. Chavez hit two HRs, Swisher a blast, 4-1 lead. the only blotch is Ibanez’s play in the outfield.

  4. Professor Longnose says:

Alex Rodriguez tosses in their fourth solo HR today.

  5. Professor Longnose says:

    And Russell Martin their 5th.

  6. smurfy says:

Hey, Prof. Sunny day in Boston, hunh?

    • Professor Longnose says:

      Poor Swisher.

Here, too. Just beautiful for April.

      • smurfy says:

It’s a killer. Worst crisis there is.

Boy, I didn’t see any of Arod’s homer till they showed the replays. Couldn’t see the pitch, the hit – or the ball flying over the wall, when they switched views.

  7. Professor Longnose says:

    Sweeeeet DP.

  8. Professor Longnose says:

    Break it open here.

  9. smurfy says:

Buchholtz just couldn’t think of a pitch to throw. Grandy was left waiting forever. Then they just walked him.

  10. smurfy says:

I was reading a funny piece about Fenway. I wouldn’t blow it, but this guy can write.

    • Professor Longnose says:

Fun piece. I’ve only been to Fenway once, in 1986. It was a nice place to see a ballgame, but I wouldn’t want to go to the men’s room there.

      • smurfy says:

Yeah, but I don’t judge a ballfield on the bathrooms. If I had to live there, yeah.

It’s a great field, feels like baseball oughta. The Monster is a wonderful, intriguing dimension.

        • smurfy says:

Saw them give 5’2″ Freddie Patek a standing o when he hit one over the Monster.

          • Professor Longnose says:

Him sitting in the dugout crying was one of the iconic images of my baseball fandom.

            • smurfy says:

Freddie, what was he crying about?

              • Professor Longnose says:

Losing the ’78 playoffs to the Yankees, the second year in a row the Royals were beaten by the Yanks. That picture made the back page of the NY papers.

Googled it and it looks like he cried after the first loss in ’76 (and ’78 was the third straight year.)

you sound like an historian. Just with Yankee connections? That’s a front I have never explored too much. Think I said last year, “I’ll have to find a good book.”

  11. smurfy says:

Like the Highlander’s uni’s. They should wear those socks all the time.

  12. smurfy says:

I’d vote for Nova for player of the game. (since we’re given the choice early.)

  13. smurfy says:

Nick shoulda swished home during Alex’ shenanigans.

  14. smurfy says:

I think Youk’s was a called third strike. Because it hit the dirt, he wanted it called low, but it just broke a lot, right thru the plate, I believe. Nice (NICE) pitch.

  15. smurfy says:

Knowing you a little bit, Prof, I’d guess you didn’t like the choice of a waiver-claimed side-slinging rookie, and consider one squibbed single plenty of evidence for his withdrawal.

Weird. But he looks interesting to me.

  16. smurfy says:

We clubbed ‘em dead. And, there is sun left! See ya, Professor.
