April 21 Game Thread
After ruining Fenway Park’s 100th birthday celebration with a bevy of home runs off Clay Buchholz, the Yankees are back in business in Boston today as Freddy Garcia looks to get back on track, taking on young lefty Felix Doubront and the Red Sox. Lineups are below. Enjoy, and chat it up in the comment section if you desire.
In other news, Michael Pineda apparently had a setback in his recovery, as he has been feeling weakness in his throwing shoulder. He is going to undergo further testing before he starts throwing again. Panic is probably premature until more information is known, but this is certainly a troubling development.

The saddest are these: The Yankees are losing to the Red Sox on Fox.
hey, you’re not trying to split our infinitive, arest thou? I saw Mike and somebody at RAB had today, of the series, Boston’s turn to stomp.
I left RAB when I saw the dump Freddie movement gaining steam. They are hitting his splits and probaqbly curves real well. (Make that were, since he was just pulled.)
Breaking balls, control and bite, can take just as long as fastballs to develop. Rythm is probably more important. Takes time.
It wouldn’t surprise me if he came back and had a serviceable year, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t. At this point, I might throw in the towel on Hughes and move him permanently to the pen before punting Garcia, but I think the rotation is going to end up as Sabathia, Nova, Kuroda, Pineda, Pettitte.
I don’t think you have to throw the towel in on anybody. If Phil, Freddie or Phelpsie could help us more, even temporarily, in another capacity, bullpenning presumably, then fine.
But it definitely is too early to close any books.
Sorry, I meant throw in the towel on Hughes as a starter. I think he can be a decent reliever.
We split hairs. We might as well split infinitives.
Garcia wasn’t able to fool anyone. They were timing his pitches and he can’t seem to get his fork ball working with 2 strikes. I’m looking forward to seeing Phelps after Ripada. Maybe Pettitte and Phelps can join the rotation, with Hughes to the pen.
What happens to Freddie? Today’s fool may be tomorrow’s smart pitcher, if you stick with him.
Phelps can be pretty valuable cleaning up after, and not facing the full brunt of will yet.
I didn’t mean to suggest they take Garcia out of the rotation now, only when Pettitte is ready. And that means Phelps has to pitch well in the interim (a big if!).
Here’s hoping he does.

Its definitely time to take Garcia out of the rotation and let Phelps have a crack or two. Once Pettitte and/or Pineda are ready, Hughes comes out too. What good is the “too much pitching” problem if you fail to utilize the benefits of said problem?
Pineda had a setback and has been shut down. Who knows when he’ll be back.
Yeah just saw that. It didn’t sound serious but who knows? Wonder if Cash would still make that trade if he could do it over again. Jesus isn’t exactly tearing it up in Seattle. But at least he’s on the field.
Yeah. Hope it’s not serious. Of course, if it is serious, the trade’s a disaster. But if not, still a calculated risk.
