    The Yankees are 41-38 over the last 79 games. With the playoffs, that’s 46-42 over the last 88 games.

    Not so soon on that one, AJ really blew up their in the 7th!

    I would say that he was left in too long but honestly at 96 pitches I would have let him go out for the 7th too. I would’ve had Joba ready to take him out after that first HR but you can’t fault leaving him in IMO.

    Why didn’t the Yankees claim Dennys Reyes? they could use a lefty.

    For the same reason he got DFA’d, he’s fat and not very good.

    He’s not bad. 3.25 ERA 2008-2010. As a LOOGY he might still have something left.

    He also has a career 4.95 BB/9 ratio and his K/9 has gradually fallen over the years. He was DFA’d because his last appearance he allowed 3 ERs without recording an out or allowing a hit, he hit one and walked 2.

    Last season with the Cardinals he walked 4.79 per 9 and he struck out 5.92, he also allowed a god awful .307 BAA Vs LHB.

    He is also HUGE and while that doesn’t mean he can’t play it means he doesn’t take very good care of himself and could one reason his fastball velocity has dropped.

    Is he better than Boone Logan?

    T.O. Chris Reply:

    No. Boone can throw up to 96, Reyes averages 88. I’ll take my chances with Boonie, he’s younger, has better stuff, and is in better shape. Your Boone Logan hate needs to dissipate, he’s a lefty reliever.

    Logan put up 40 more than solid innings, and he was better after the All-Star break than he was before it. Once he finds his slider he will turn things around, it’s early into the season, no need for panic in a LOOGY.

    Anyone care to calculate Tillman’s. WHiP and ERA for tonight’s game?

    [Reply]

    Professor Longnose Reply:

    ERA = 9R/I = 9*6/(5/3) = 54*(3/5) = 162/5 = 32.40

    WHIP = (W + H)/I = (1+9)/(5/3) = 10(3/5) = 6.00

    [Reply]

    Professor Longnose Reply:

    FIP = [(HR*13) + (W*3) - (K*2)]/I + 3.20
    = [(1*13) + (1*3) - (2*2)]/(5/3) + 3.20
    = [ 13 + 3 - 4 ]/(5/3) + 3.20
    = 12/(5/3) + 3.20
    = 36/5 + 3.20
    = 7.20 + 3.20
    = 10.40
