- The Yankees also signed Venezuelan catcher Luis Torrens, the second-best IFA prospect per Baseball America, for $1.3 MM.

Good to see the Yankees loading up on up the middle talent. All I know about Torrens is that he use to be a 3B and SS who’s moved to C, and has a great bat for a 16 year old. interesting seeing someone move to C from SS and 3B.

I saw that. Apparently SS Yancarlos Baez isn’t even in the top 200, though they say he has a good bat for his age. Which I assume means he won’t stick at SS.
The Yankees have also signed Venezuelan right fielder Alexander Palma for $800K. Palma was the fourth-ranked international prospect by BA and has a physical frame that projects for power.
I heard that too. I understand fully how important it is to have an up the middle guy with a bat and the Yankees have built themselves that way for my entire life. But for once I would love to hear that they signed a guy who is a slick fielding vacuum at short who can steal a shit ton of bases.
Steals are pretty overvalued today for some reason, I’d rather get the guy who can hit. You’re basically describing Jose Iglesias and so far in AAA he’s struggling to maintain a .597 OPS. If you can hit you can find a way to get on the field, you can be the best SS in the world but a .597 OPS in AAA isn’t getting you on the major league field.

I’m watching the game on ESPN. UGH!! Chris Berman. Haven’t seen him in years, and liked it. Plus, ESPN has this weird camera angle to show the batter that’s so far off center that it’s absolutely impossible to determine balls & strikes. And, Berman’s mike cannot maintain volume. I’m kinda bitchy tonight.

I really hope that once CC returns its Phelps who is kept in the rotation over Garcia. Phelps is flat out more important to the teams success. Garcia is just depth.
I agree. Phelps might be inconsistent, since he’s a rookie, but Garcia will be mediocre at best.

What is it going to take for Stewart to be recognized as a legitiment bat? Shoot, he has one of the highest batting averages on the team, yet when he is played it is almost like the Yankees apologize for him being on the field. C.C. clearly seems comfortable pitching to him and he has been a part of the amazing June. It seemed as though he did a good enough job when Martin was hurt that the Yanks pitchers were throwing well. I don’t get it.
If Stewart plays much he will regress to mean. A career .200 hitter, no power. And his defense this season has been terrible.
The Yankees value OBP and SLG more than BA, and Stewart has 1 walk and 3 extra-base hits all year.
I dunno. I mean Cervelli had a batting average of .298 and then followed it up with a .271 but I don’t think anyone would consider him an legit bat. Backup catchers just sometimes hit well. I dunno mann cant explain it but Stewart is in his early 30s already

no, too pathetic. Try, “I love a good time, but don’t get in my way when there’s work to be done.”
When I interviewed people I never asked questions like that. I always thought they were ridiculous. But I never interviewed people for entry-level jobs, so I knew specifically what kind of experience I wanted, and beyond that I just wanted people not to be jerks.
My only advice, for what it’s worth, is to pair your quality with some sort of action you use to help. For example, “I’m not good at remembering appointments, so I have to keep an appointment book and make sure I check it every morning,” or “Sometimes I use humor to express myself and people think I’m not serious. I’ve learned to say specifically, ‘Hey, I know this is important, and this is what needs to be done.’ ” Like that.
Thanks for the advice. Its not an entry level job its so I can work in the OR assisting doctors so I would assume they will be asking more job specific questions. But that is very practical advice I havent heard before. Im sure they would love a guy who made lots of lists. Shows organization
