  1. T.O. Chris says:

Good to see the Yankees loading up on up the middle talent. All I know about Torrens is that he use to be a 3B and SS who’s moved to C, and has a great bat for a 16 year old. interesting seeing someone move to C from SS and 3B.

    • Michael says:

He was the second best international free agent this year apparently

      • T.O. Chris says:

I saw that. Apparently SS Yancarlos Baez isn’t even in the top 200, though they say he has a good bat for his age. Which I assume means he won’t stick at SS.

The Yankees have also signed Venezuelan right fielder Alexander Palma for $800K. Palma was the fourth-ranked international prospect by BA and has a physical frame that projects for power.

        • Michael says:

I heard that too. I understand fully how important it is to have an up the middle guy with a bat and the Yankees have built themselves that way for my entire life. But for once I would love to hear that they signed a guy who is a slick fielding vacuum at short who can steal a shit ton of bases.

          • T.O. Chris says:

Steals are pretty overvalued today for some reason, I’d rather get the guy who can hit. You’re basically describing Jose Iglesias and so far in AAA he’s struggling to maintain a .597 OPS. If you can hit you can find a way to get on the field, you can be the best SS in the world but a .597 OPS in AAA isn’t getting you on the major league field.

  2. Michael says:

Are there two pitchers who contrast each other more than Moore and Garcia do at this point in their respective careers?

  3. Michael says:

Yankees not fooled on that mid to high 90s fastball. How is Freddy sweating already? lol

  4. Phil C says:

Nice start to the game. But these next 7 games really worry, especially since Garcia will start 2 of them and Phelps one.

  5. Phil C says:

Nice play by Swisher. Our RF is better than your RF….haha

I’m watching the game on ESPN. UGH!! Chris Berman. Haven’t seen him in years, and liked it. Plus, ESPN has this weird camera angle to show the batter that’s so far off center that it’s absolutely impossible to determine balls & strikes. And, Berman’s mike cannot maintain volume. I’m kinda bitchy tonight.

    • Michael says:

Hahahaha im gonna watch on espn too. Too muc Kay is not a good thing. Back back back back back back back GAWN!!!! Ahahaha berman just an exciteable sweaty fat guy. Youtube the Berman freakout. You wont be disappointed.

  6. Phil C says:

Nice play by Tex. Garcia not looking good. I bet we see DJ tonight.

    • Michael says:

I really hope that once CC returns its Phelps who is kept in the rotation over Garcia. Phelps is flat out more important to the teams success. Garcia is just depth.

      • Phil C says:

I agree. Phelps might be inconsistent, since he’s a rookie, but Garcia will be mediocre at best.

  7. Professor Longnose says:

Heard part of the game on the radio. Sterling was raving about Swisher’s dive and Teixeira’s DP.

  8. Dave1955 says:

What is it going to take for Stewart to be recognized as a legitiment bat? Shoot, he has one of the highest batting averages on the team, yet when he is played it is almost like the Yankees apologize for him being on the field. C.C. clearly seems comfortable pitching to him and he has been a part of the amazing June. It seemed as though he did a good enough job when Martin was hurt that the Yanks pitchers were throwing well. I don’t get it.

    • Phil C says:

If Stewart plays much he will regress to mean. A career .200 hitter, no power. And his defense this season has been terrible.

    • Professor Longnose says:

The Yankees value OBP and SLG more than BA, and Stewart has 1 walk and 3 extra-base hits all year.

    • Michael says:

I dunno. I mean Cervelli had a batting average of .298 and then followed it up with a .271 but I don’t think anyone would consider him an legit bat. Backup catchers just sometimes hit well. I dunno mann cant explain it but Stewart is in his early 30s already

  9. Michael says:

Every year I wonder why Adam Dunn isn’t picked for the Home Run Derby

  10. Phil C says:

Why aren’t the Rays doing better this year, after all Joe Maddon is a genius?

  11. Michael says:

    This Moore kid looks good

    • smurfy says:

he needs a shave. I was gonna say Andruw should give it to him, but he decided on a little trim. Maybe Nixy.

      • Michael says:

He certainly couldnt be a Yankee with that facial hair. Lol Yankees class all the way. Speaking of which I should shave myself. My first real job interview tomorrow…scaryyyy

  12. Phil C says:

Garcia doesn’t look good to me, I dread him pitching in Fenway.

  13. Michael says:

Garcia gets an 0 for style points but the bottom line will show that he was effective

  14. Phil C says:

    Now the mix-and-matching starts.

  15. Professor Longnose says:

    On. Over. In.

    Come on, guys.

  16. Michael says:

Same effect as a bunt. Productive out by Jeet

  17. Professor Longnose says:

The toughest job interview question is, “What is your worst quality?” but I’ll make it easy for you. The correct answer is, “I get pissy when people ask me fucking stupid questions.”

  18. Professor Longnose says:

Wow, it’s been so long since the Yankees did that.

  19. smurfy says:

    Yeah! Good plan, Professor.

  20. Michael says:

Should I go with the ol “sometimes I care TOO much” line?

    • smurfy says:

no, too pathetic. Try, “I love a good time, but don’t get in my way when there’s work to be done.”

    • Professor Longnose says:

When I interviewed people I never asked questions like that. I always thought they were ridiculous. But I never interviewed people for entry-level jobs, so I knew specifically what kind of experience I wanted, and beyond that I just wanted people not to be jerks.

My only advice, for what it’s worth, is to pair your quality with some sort of action you use to help. For example, “I’m not good at remembering appointments, so I have to keep an appointment book and make sure I check it every morning,” or “Sometimes I use humor to express myself and people think I’m not serious. I’ve learned to say specifically, ‘Hey, I know this is important, and this is what needs to be done.’ ” Like that.

      • Michael says:

Thanks for the advice. Its not an entry level job its so I can work in the OR assisting doctors so I would assume they will be asking more job specific questions. But that is very practical advice I havent heard before. Im sure they would love a guy who made lots of lists. Shows organization

  21. Phil C says:

That run doesn’t count. Everyone knows the Yanks can’t score like that.

  22. Michael says:

Not being serious on that lol

  23. Michael says:

Wonder what Girardi will call Qualls. Quallsy? Well he made some Quallsy pitches to get us out of that jam tonight

  24. Michael says:

What ever happened to “super” Sam Fuld?

  25. Professor Longnose says:

Robertson is not in form yet.

  26. smurfy says:

That was tough. Time for the Yanks to get mad.

  27. Michael says:

Time to do what the Yankees do. Walk, hit a single, double steal, sac fly and tie it up. The Yankee way!

  28. smurfy says:

Oh, ho. Arod rode that a long way, just a bit short.

  29. Professor Longnose says:

New plan: On. On. On. Homer.

  30. Phil C says:

Looks like we’ll see 3 pinch hitters in the top of the 9th.

  31. smurfy says:

When Pena holds his bat right there, before the pitch, it’s like he’s saying, “See that? Put it right there.”

  32. Phil C says:

If this game goes extra innings we may see Wise pitch again.

  33. Michael says:

Hope this proves to be a Wise decision!

  34. Michael says:

Ummmm what the hell is that? How is it that people complain about Soriano untucking his shirt after a save and not that?

    This is disrespectful to Flanny…

  35. Professor Longnose says:

    Yuck.

  36. Phil C says:

    Good night. Chat y’all tomorrow.

  37. smurfy says:

    Be your best, Michael.
