Game Six: Bring Out Your Brooms
Behind their ace , the Yankees are looking for the road sweep of the Baltimore Orioles tonight. A win would put the team at .500 entering their home opener, a somewhat successful result for a road trip, and a dramatic improvement over their 0-3 start. Facing the O’s last year, Sabathia had a 1.69 ERA and 9.00 K/9 over 16.0 innings. Pitching for Baltimore is right hander . The 26 year old faced the Yankees 3 times last year, and held the team to a 4.24 ERA through 17.0 innings despite an abysmal 6.0 BB/9.

Most poker sites open to US players also provide online casinos accepting USA players. A good example of this is BetOnline.com, where you can play 3D casino games, bet on sports or play poker from anywhere in the United States.

Granderson hits a 2-run HR. Nice way to start the scoring.
Finally, 40 more to go.
40 more HRs for Granderson this season? Or 40 more runs for the Yankees this inning?
I’d be happy with either.
I think it’s closer to 34 left. I would be pretty surprised if he knocked 40 again, I’d actually prefer a 30-30 season with a higher BA/OBP over another 40 dinger season.
I missed it…. What a quick rain delay, didn’t even last a whole inning of the Marlins game.
They had said it might only be 10 minutes, so I left it on.
After last year I expected the worst, especially with CC on the mound.
Ha!
Last year was the year of the rain delay man, how many times did a game get washed out? It got so bad even the hint of rain made me mad haha.
You guys think the Yankees will eventually retire CC’s number?
Definitely a possibility, but he’d have to be really good over the rest of his contract.
Yeah, he’s been good enough but not for long enough. Reggie was only here for 5 years, and Maris for 6, I think, but they both set memorable records.
Well length with the team shouldn’t be a problem, he’ll be here all total what 10 years at the end of his extension?
I think he’s going to make it into the HOF, he may fall short of 300 wins, but he’s been one of the best pitchers in baseball for a long time and should be for a while longer. Unfortunately I think his Cy Young days may be behind him, but he should still be ace quality for 2-3 more years after this one.
If he makes the Hall of Fame and holds a rotation spot for the rest of his contract, he’s in, yeah.
I just took a look at his record. He’s been great now for 5 years, but was only decent for the 5 years before that. But if he keeps going, he should make it.
One thing that will help is how young he was when he broke in. He didn’t dominate at 20 when he broke in but he’s pitched 180+ innings every year of his career since that point, so his total finished numbers will look pretty good. He’s already 61st on the all time K list with 2024, if he averages 140 K over the remainder of the contract he’ll reach 3000 Ks. At that point they almost can’t keep him out.
And he’s never been bad. He’s always been average or better.
Pitching all but half a season in the AL, then pitching the last half of his career in the AL East helps as well.
Either the gun is off or CC’s not throwing quite as hard as usual. He’s sitting in the low 90′s and his change seems to be a few miles slower as well.
STOP USING YOUR HAND!!!!
Damn, that’s a bad break.
Crud.
Granderson makes horrible reads in the outfield which leads to horrible routes to balls. He’s very athletic but he isn’t a natural center field.
Come on, CC, find the groove.
Guidry? Clemens?
Exactly what I was thinking.
Cone?
Sabathia pitched a lot better, plus Gardner saved a hit.
All right, a rally getting started.
Bases loaded, no one out: one run.
Sabathia coughed up the lead. Where’s Melido Perez when you need him?
Granderson singles in the tying run!
Finally! Who thought the Yankees would get a hit with runners in scoring position?
For such good hitters, they’re frustratingly streaky.
Rodriguez leads off with a single. OK, push him around, guys.
Rodriguez, Teixeira, and Swisher are drawing plenty of walks. They’re just not getting hits.
Nunez steals second, goes to third on an error. Only one out. Come on, Swisher, get him in.
Nick Swisher is a terrible, terrible baseball player. He either swings too hard, or not at all. I would love to take Nunez shopping for an outfielder’s glove.
Nunez is the last guy I’d want to replace Swisher. I don’t think anyone could field worse than him.
Man, that was a sweet play by Cano.
That’ll make Sports Center
Tex saves another error.
And, probably, pisses off another team. He really clubbed Paulino in the ear. To be sure of the tag, he swung it hard.
Hey, smurfy.
Howdy do to you, Professor.
Gardner getting on base would be huge.
I don’t like this IBB stuff.
Its absolutely ridiculous. I’m sure Soriano won’t have any command issues, especially considering he just threw 8 straight balls.
Yeah, that’s what I didn’t like about the IBB on Opening Day. Sabathia was struggling with his command, and it gave him no margin for error against a power hitter with a good eye.
Joe: I knew it! My binder tells all.
That binder should keep its mouth shut.
well, he’s gotta at least give it a pat for a job well done. Maybe click the rings a bit.
Last evening, Buck Showalter left the dugout, walking on the field, and his acolyte walked behind him, carrying the binder.
Nice hit by Nunez. Just steal here.
Oh god, I hate this guy so much.
unfortunate, that pitch out.
Nunez has flashed some skill, but he’s not ready for prime time. He needs to go down to AAA and play every day.
Suck it shift.
Comment of the day.
OK, Swisher, tjo161 has turned against you. Now is the time to show him.
I think he heard you.
he got a Swisheroo, and a mighty good one.
Eric Chavez is damn good at 3B.
I don’t think Nunez would have made that play.
Sweet play, Chavez!
Joe done something good, putting him in for Nuney.
The sweep!
Back to .500.
Goodnight, all.
Enough ugly baseball. Good to have evened the record, but le’s start winning them easy!
