A few items popped up yesterday at MLBTR under the Yankees tag that are worth looking at:

First up: the Yankees are apparently not on Francisco Rodriguez‘s no-trade list. Scott Boras said that Rodriguez would be unlikely to waive his no trade clause for a non-closing job. That doesn’t matter much, since the Yankees aren’t on his list. I’m not too keen on a trade for Rodriguez, but if the price was reasonable, I could see it. With on the verge of returning, though, it may not be 100% necessary and because of that, I’d wager that the Mets could get a better package for K-Rod somewhere else.

discussed trade possibilities. We’ve heard that the Yankees are linked to him and fellow Padre . Bell said he would set up for the rest of the year if need be, but will be looking to get a closer’s deal after 2011. If the Yankees acquire him, that would mean he’d be strictly a rental, which I think I’d be okay with it. Adams still has some control left–and may be the better pitcher–but that means the cost would be driven up. Again, I think the Padres will find better offers from non-Yankee teams who will value both Bell and Adams higher than the Yankees do.

The only way I see Cashman dealing for Bell is if he thinks he can recoup the prospect loss with the draft picks he recieves when Bell signs elsewhere after the year. However I can’t see the price being that low for probably the biggest name traded.
