What We’re Reading: Tuesday Afternoon’s Links

Good afternoon everyone.

So have we all gotten past last night’s debacle? I hope so because we have a game to look forward to tonight. Phil Hughes is looking to right the ship so to speak and keep up his good fortune against the Tigers.

David Waldstein wrote a piece about Hughes’s resurgence in the New York Times. Guess where it started? Yep, in Detroit.

Matt Keegan of Pinstripe Alley writes about Curtis Granderson’s performance vs breaking balls. I won’t spoil it for you but if you watch Yankee games, you know the ending.

In case you missed it yesterday, Derek Jeter was interested in watching the women’s soccer match between U.S.A. and Canada, so much so that he requested it be shown on the big screen at Comerica Park. He’s request fell on deaf ears and Alex Morgan scored the winning goal before it could be shown.

Bryan Grosnick of Beyond the Boxscore tells us something you might know about Alex Rodriguez. It’s a pretty interesting read and showcases something that a lot of people overlook when discussing A-Rod.

Jon Bois of SB Nation wrote an amazing piece about Ken Griffey Jr’s 1996 Presidential Campaign. It’s long, it’s imaginative and definitely worth your time, believe me.

Eric Schultz, you all know him, wrote about prospects and the impact injuries have on them for River Avenue Blues. And in case you missed it, our own Brad Vietrogoski wrote about the guys in the minors who haven’t been hit with the injury bug.

And finally, I realize that this is a baseball site but I had to share this with everyone: Presenting The Worst Dive Ever.

    Thanks for the links. I always need something to read to kill time before the game starts.

    (You left out a “not” in the sentence about Rodriguez, so you get a 0.0, too.)

        I’ve been a professional editor and proofreader for 25 years, and I have never seen a perfect document. (In fact, when I posted my first comment, it read “note” instead of “not.” Fortunately, you guys have an editing mechanism for comments.

          I am better at catching stuff in other people’s work. I’ll find glaring mistakes in my stuff – if people don’t point them out to me – weeks later. Haha. So embarrassing.
