The Yankees were able to overcome a shaky 5 1/3 innings of three-run ball by — though to Colon’s credit, he did a nice job limiting the damage — in and picking up a rare series win in Anaheim. How rare? They’ve only done it two other times since 2004 — once during that season, and the other in 2009.

Though the broadcast team of Bob Lorenz and thought Colon looked off his game, from my vantage point it looked more like Colon’s fastball-heavy attack just wasn’t the right approach against the hacktastic Angels, who were sitting first-pitch fastball and successfully turned on Colon’s first offering of the at-bat on two of their six hits against him, one of which was a solo home run off the bat of . As also noted by Moshe on Twitter, Colon didn’t appear to be getting some of the called strike calls he’d been getting for much of the season, which likely played something of a role in Colon’s less-effective-than-usual outing, considering how significant a weapon the called strike has been for him this season.

In any event, the bullpen came up huge once again — though (1 IP), (1 2/3 IP) and (1 IP) put two men on apiece during their appearances, they each managed to keep the Angels off the board.

The Yankee offense consisted of two booming home runs, a double that was plated by a double and a solo shot, which not only gave the Yankees a much-needed insurance run but also marked the first time the team scored in innings 7 through 9 since last Monday.

And so the Yankees managed to go 6-3 on their first west coast swing of the season, which really is tremendous. That they probably should’ve won the first two in Seattle and gone 8-1 just shows you how well they’ve been playing, and it couldn’t come at a better time as the Red Sox come to town for three this Tuesday.

Great win all around. Who would have thought after losing the first two in Seattle how well the road trip turned out. Now a tough home stand.

The NY Post reports Snoop Dogg (yes, Snoop Dogg) was hanging out in the dugout during Yankees batting practice LOL.

Speaking of celebs at Yankee games, did Lady Gaga really show up to Yankee Stadium half naked? Call me a freak but I wanna nail her.

I was in the rare position of rooting for the Yankees on this road trip, and your overpaid lugs didn’t disappoint me. The fact that I own Tex in a key fantasy league made today’s win ever sweeter.

Oh and Duh! is appently a freak. To me, there is nothing sexy about a marginally attractive singer dressing like a deranged hooker and spouting nonsense every time she opens her mouth.
