This could be yours absolutely free!

TYA has a few sets of “Yankeeography: The Core Four Collection” DVDs to give away just in time for Father’s Day. Instead of boring-old trivia, in order to win this free DVD set you’ll need to do a little extra legwork.

We just launched , and we need your help in getting as many people to “Like” the page as possible.

Here’s how to win the DVD:

1) and “Like” the TYA fan page.
2) E-mail us at TheYankeeAnalysts at gmail dot com to let us know you’ve entered the contest.
3) Get as many of your Facebook friends as you can to “Like” the TYA fan page.
4) Whoever gets the most Facebook friends to “Like” the TYA page wins!
5) The contest closes the Friday before Father’s Day, June 17.

Please note, the only way we can tally the number of people you convinced to “Like” our page is by also “liking” the page yourself and letting us know who you are, so we can then cross-check the “Likes” against your list of friends. If multiple people are friends with the same person and that person “Likes” the page, everyone who enters will get a point for that person.

So what are you waiting for? Go on over to and start getting your friends to “Like” it now!

Below is a description of the DVD:

In a series of small roster moves during the 1995 season, the Yankees laid four cornerstones for the Club’s success over the next two decades. Starting in April and concluding in September, the Bronx welcomed the Major League debuts of , , , and .

As teammates they’ve won double-digit division titles, many pennants, and a fistfull of World Series rings. As individuals they continue to climb baseball’s Mount Olympus.

Who cares about the core four. They all stink/useless or one shining light MO. I thank God I have not nor will pony up money to go to YS111 and watch this disagrace of a team and gutless coaching staff. Time for management to start firing people.
    Cashman: Opeenheimer to repalce
    Girardi: Tony Pena to replace
Jeter: release and make it very public why: Nunez to replace until a trade for Reyes canbe completed
Burnett: release and replace with Hector Noesi
Cervelli: Austin Romine to repalce for now.

I could go on but I think this is a good place to start. Also a public apology from ownership for putting fans through this debacle.

    Good night and God bless

This is pretty much not helping the cause.

Sure made me chuckle though. +1

Pettitte is retired and Rivera is far from useless. Posada is useless. Jeter is useless if he finishes like he’s been hitting so far. What I don’t understand about “The Core Four” is it’s really not that, it’s “The Core Five”: Pettitte, Rivera, Posada, Jeter, and Bernie Williams. Williams unlike Pettitte was a lifelong Yankee and played with Rivera, Jeter, and Posada 1995-2007, Pettitte 1995-2003. While Rivera and Jeter will most likely be lifelong Yankees as well, it is possible that Posada will play elsewhere next year.

If by “Core Four” you mean these four guys won five World Series together, that’s unfair to Bernie. Bernie started his career four years before Jeter and Posada had their collective cup of coffee in 1995 and had five seasons on Jeter before Jeter’s first full season, six on Posada before Posada’s first season where he had significant playing time, and it took Posada four seasons to wrest the everyday catching job from Girardi. Also Posada was not a prominent player in the 1996 Championship year. Bernie was a prominent member of not only the 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000 World Series winning teams, he was a prominent member of the 1995 team before them as well as one for the 2001 and 2003 A.L. Pennant winning teams. Time people recognize that. Pettitte left the Yankees for Houston so he is not a 100% Yankee, sorry. Bernie never left and I don’t wanna hear how he almost signed with Boston cuz in the end he didn’t. And he didn’t play elsewhere after 2007.

This DVD is an insult to the career of Bernie Williams.

I know Pettitte, Rivera, Jeter, and Posada began their Yankee careers at the same time so I could see them being a “Core Four” in that respect, but again, Bernie Williams was homegrown as well so “Core Four” somewhat discounts his career as a Yankee. He was part of four World Champs and two pennant winners and did way more for the 1995 team than any of the Core Four guys did.

    I can’t win. I don’t have any friends.

Aw Professor, that can’t possibly be true. I’d hate for any of our loyal readers to feel excluded from the contest.

For those non-Facebookers interested in entering, send me a haiku about your favorite TYA writer, and depending on how much I like it perhaps you’ll be awarded one of the DVD sets.

But I do want to stress that sending us the most “Likes” on Facebook is the primary way in which to win this competition.

Oh, I didn’t mean to hijack the contest. The whole point is to get Facebook Likes.
