I hope to see Berkman deliver a little post season magic tonight! I’ve grown up in Houston and I watched the Astros get close but never make it a couple times and it’s good to see Berkman getting one last chance at a ring with my favorite team!
My prediction Pettitte goes 6 IP, 2 ER, 4 K, 2 BB…. Granderson homers tonight!
I’m sure he is a great guy and has a mother and family that loves him but I hate Carl Pavano with the passion of a 1,000 fires! He basically committed highway robbery to the Yankees and is now starting game 2 of the playoffs for the Twins. I know it’s not his fault and he was injured and all that jazz but it still doesn’t make it any easier!
Same here. I want to rock him.
I gotta give a lot of credit to Jeter on that double play he really showed off the hops and the athleticism to make that throw and come down on the bag.
Andy’s control is a little shaky looking early on here but he has great velocity already hitting 91 so it looks like he could go either way tonight, if he gets into a groove early we could ride this to a 2-0 lead.
Pettiitte is shaky with his control for sure and it doesn’t help that he has a hitters ump behind the plate.
Good 1-2-3 inning for Pettitte thanks to Swisher’s great catch… Looks like his knee is a lot more healthy than I thought it was going to be and Andy looked a lot sharper in that inning.
Boy they’re on Pavano right now.
I was hoping to get a little more out of that inning but it seemed to me like Swisher got frustrated by that terrible first pitch strike call, it was a close pitch that looked clearly down but when you gauge it against the strike zone he has shown all game it was even worse.
You have to love some veteran post season magic! Go ahead Home Run by Lance Berkman!
Looks like Andy is in that groove I talked about, I’d like to see some more runs put up on the board though because with this being Andy’s 4th start since coming off the DL you don’t when he might tire out or what the pitch count is.
I’m really surprised with Swisher in two games thus far he has swung at a number of bad pitches and he has a couple of ABs in tonight’s game with Pavano on the ropes and an opportunity to really put some finishing blows on his night and he has put the ball on the floor twice weakly.
We had a few chances to put some runs up with outs,we are hitting the bum hard, he has a low pitch count so we will still have shots to get at him.he is pitching out side and they keep trying to pull. but all in all got to real happy..
He’s pitched pretty well over all and he has had a great change tonight but yeah we have had some opportunities to make runs and we just haven’t done it yet.
Well it looks like I will probably be wrong… Andy is at 6 IP with 2 ER but he only at 76 pitches so he should have a chance to finish the 7th inning with pitches to spare.
pettitte gave us a great start, 2 runs , i will take that every game
Is he done? I didn’t see a hand shake from Joe and I would think he would be at least able to throw 90 pitches tonight.
I agree that pitch to Berkman was a strike but I think the previous called strike on the outside corner was a ball so it seems to even out to me.
Huge night for Berkman tonight best game he has ever had with the Yankees. I think he just earned stripes win or lose 2 hits 2 go ahead RBI.
Jeter comes through in the on spot we really needed him to and he helps run Carl out of the 7th with 0 outs and 2 on.
Much better overall feel to this game than last night I think the club house may have been a little intense before yesterdays start knowing they kind of had to win that game since CC was on the hill.
Why is Granderson bunting in this situation? With his speed it won’t be a double play and with the way he has been swinging the bat against both right and left handed pitching he is just as likely to get a base hit and drive in the runs… Not to mention we have a 2 run lead.
Alex and Cano looked like they were only interested in Grand Slams from the first pitch… In that situation you need to think back up the middle for a single because that’s all it takes for it to be a 4 run lead.
Pettitte has looked nasty since he gave up the sac fly in the 3rd he really got into a rhythm after that play and he has ridden to the tune of 7 IP, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K on 88 pitches. IF you are Joe you could actually send him back out for JJ Hardy and if he gets Hardy then you can leave him out for Span and go to Kerry Wood for Orlando Hudson to finish of the 8th… At least something to consider.
The Kerry Wood trade probably goes down as the biggest steal if not the biggest trade of the year.
seriously. best-case scenario right there.
oswalt then all else..
