Game Thread: Yankees at Indians, Sunday August 26, 2012
After a disappointing sweep at the hands of the White Sox, the Yankees have split their opening games in the series against Cleveland. Every time it looks like the Yankees are going to start playing well in the second half, they seem to lose steam. Losing two of three to Cleveland after dropping three in a row to the White Sox would cement that. Every game may not be a must win at the moment, but the Yankees will put themselves in that situation if they let the Rays close to within two games in the AL East. Things are getting interesting, and not in a good way. Winning the series against Cleveland is a smart way to get things moving in the right direction. The Yankees send to the mound, while the Indians counter with . Remember when Jimenez was a prize to be had? Me neither. He’s been awful this year. Enjoy.

Most poker sites open to US players also provide online casinos accepting USA players. A good example of this is BetOnline.com, where you can play 3D casino games, bet on sports or play poker from anywhere in the United States.

There is no way that Jimenez should last 3 innings against the Yanks. If he does that spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E!
1st & 2nd, one out = NO runs!!! Terrible, simply terrible.
From GameDay it looks like Freddy is having problems finding the strike zone. I hope that’s short-lived.
think it’s the ump is having T-R-o-u-b-l-E with the strike zone. He gave Garcia a ball on a strike against Kipnis extending his at-bat, then gave Santana the same courtesy, thought better of it and called a ball a strike to compensate.
Wow! Three runs without an HR!
Nick Swisher has mended his heel-swinging ways.
Good to hear that.
wtf Stewart?
well, that throw helps. Great tag by Cano.
Ihad to check the GameDay summary to figure out what you were typing about!
the passed ball was weird: a slider, swinging whiff, ball curling, Stewart takes it off the fingers like he wasn’t watching.
wonder if the Renegades captured the Professor.
Maybe he was down here in Sugar Land to scout surreptitiously for the Yanks.
i saw Clemens in Skeeters uniform on SportCenter. How did he look, besides chunky?
Haven’t paid it much attention.
OMG! I’m watching/listening to Fahreed Zakaria, it was 73 years ago today that a baseball game was 1st televised.
1939 – but how many saw it till early ’50′s?
It was the Reds vs. Dodgers. Only about 400 TV sets in the NY area at that time.
most watched the WS thru the furniture store window.
Wheeeew! Freddy got out it!
The ump cannot see Freddie’s big curves cut thru the zone. Struck Santana out, and there he stood with a 3-2 swing and the bases loaded. Freddie is really good and tricky today.
Ichi has really cracked balls the last two times up. Solid.
Just saw his 2nd hit on MLBN. If any hitting coach tried teaching that swing he’d get fired.
Now saw Itchy’s caught stealing. Damn, O ya coma va sure had an awkward throw.
and I didn’t think he did get him in YES_MO, though Michael K. was satisfied.
The Mariner’s ss, Izawa? Iwakuma?, tries to dupe him.
I thought it was Brendan Ryan. Wouldnt mind the Yankees grabbing Ryan as a Jeter caddy. Ryan is the best defensive shortstop that I know of
they alternate the two.
Hey, Michael. How is surgery?
How you doin mann. Its fun and exciting. Always different and very intense. The surgeons though are the most big headed arrogant jerks iv ever met for the most part. They act like children
that’s probably why there was job opportunity. Watch it!
yeah, Ryan is a tough dog, too. The weenies would cry for batting average, tho.
Jeter really struggling against Jimenez. All those moving parts maybe he just cant pick it up
that’s what I thought with Chris Sale, midweek. Phil C. noted a difference in his fb and offspeed deliveries, and I thought, “how can you tell?”
Chris Sale also has plus stuff that he locates. He seemed like he could put the ball just about anywhere he wanted to. I didnt notice the catchers glove moving much.
yeah, wild strikes, on the spot, but coming from everywhere.
I still think there was a difference in his arm speed. But while I could rather accurately guess what he was throwing, it’s probably too late for a batter to react accordingly.
Plus we get to view him from the back. Good play by Cano
I watched Baumgarner yesterday afternoon, and he show the batter his grip, as he extends his arm and turns hard in his delivery, but nobody could prob read and react.
I’m not feeling comfortable that the Yanks could only score 3 runs off Ubie in the first 5 innings.
Shouldve hung a 5 spot on him. Its okay theyll still get chances against the bullpen. They shouldnt have scored any of those runs to begin with anyway. None came via the home run…
After this game, Yankees begin a stretch of 22 games vs their AL East rivals. It’s gonna feel like October baseball in late August and September.
They better start hitting again or it will really be a long stretch.
Yankees need to do what they did in the 2nd inning and that’s get the runners home.
Boy, the Yankee pitchers sure have asdrubal’s butt for a target.
NO! There goes the shutout, 3-2 Yankees now lead.. Brand new Ballgame.
still slightly used, if Boone can do it.
I just keep hearing Tex in my head “I’ll put my numbers up against anyone. Check my power numbers at then end of the year.” Yeah Tex? 20 something homers with a disasterously low batting average is worth 25 million for the next 4 years? He better go on a tear.
he was till the last couple games. Isn’t his average up to 260? Remember his obp is 335. 20? Bet he gets 30 by end o’ season.
He needs to be mid to high 30s the justify that salary. His OBP and BA are a lot lower than the guy we thought we were getting when we signed him.
absolutely, to be worth 25 millun. Ought to hit 50 a year. But they have been doing that, feeling good about signing a big piece into sure decline. Can’t blame him for maximizing, or expect him to be superman with no PEDs.
Freddy leaving the game, now here’s Boom Boom Boone from the Bullpen.
Damn, the Native Americans have gotten to the Yankee pen early. That does not bode well they way they’ve pitched recently.
Boone gets the job done.
How politically correct of you sir
LOL PC gone mad!!!!!1!!!!11!!!eleven!
Come on Yanks, beat the Noble Savages.
Scalp them Injuns!
the Indigenous Peoples must be so deflated after that homer
I wonder whatever happened to Chief Knock-A-Homa?
they have ol’ Ed on the drums today.
Remember Iron Eyes Cody?
That Grandyman homer made them cry.
Yeah, long time no white eyes see
That ball is outta here!
Sure, runners on base he Ks. No one on, it’s gone.
yeah, sure was due in the second, with two on, but be positive: maybe this is the first of many.
All players go through slumps.
Got nuttin’ agin a slump. But something like 2/3 of HRs are a tribute to Hans Solo.
and the wooki says, “Arrrrrh!!”
Boone! Boone! nice job, buddy.
Yep he certainly did his job quite nicely today.
Kay called it like the ball was going to end up in Canada. :/
Michael K. has to eat crow, “there it goes!! er, it bounces to the wall.” (“Flash, what was Choo doing? He was just watching, so…with the crack of the bat, and the power swish has been showing…Oh, I don’t know, I’m losing it.”)
IBB to Cano! Tex has to make them pay for that. We need more trinkets….I mean runs!
Well he certainly showed them!
Wow! He’s sticking with Logan!
woah, Boonie doing 2+. Joe is showing faith, can Boone do it?
thought so. Kipnis timed Boone’s slider the third in a row.
They have 6 lefties, 2 switchies, and only 1 righty in the lineup today. I don’t think he trusts Rapada much right now.
yeah, I saw the lefties he was facing, then Joe calls a righty to face the next lefty. Not soo much faith.
Loney got an RBI in his 1st game for the Red Sucks. Who needs A-Gon?
if he gets 30 by season’s end, they MIGHT let him stay.
I think the 2013 Sluts first baseman is Swish.
seems natural, and I’ve heard it plenty. 4/60 plus trimmings may get him, just the right bet for the Ruddy Sox. I doubt they would let Swish rob the bank like he wants to, so he should stay home.
If he’d sign for 4/$60 I think the Yanks should keep him. Let Granderson go.
I don’t understand it. MLB has a strict drug policy, yet they allow high socks.
er, what’s wrong with high socks? Better than big boy pants. What they ought to investigate are these flat hat brims…
Are you implying they’re starching?
when I saw the whole Little League team with that damnable gang style, I knew sumpthin was up.
I sure took exception to that second ball, the one they’re arguing about.
I was wondering why it took so long in between pitches.
Halleluyah! David got Kotchman with a dynomite fast curve. Beauty, started middle in to the lefty and finiished near his shoes. Good hitter looked bad.
I’m surprised Girardi didn’t let Robertson face the one righty.
yeah, he’s not rote r/l today. Twice, Michael Kay has made a point that Joe is getting serious, taking Freddy out, regardless of 2 outs toward the 5th.
I agree, but probably only needed to say it once.
well, many Yankee fans need hearing assistance.
and some of us are deaf voluntarily.
self-preservation!
Let me inform you that that flyball to right by LaPorta weren’t no can o’ corn: the batcracks all sound good, but this one sounded real good. A highliner that Ichi intercepted in front of the wall.
MLBN broke into the game when I wasn’t in the room. I heard the crack of the bat and thought, HR!
The Yanks need some Nationwide runs. Sori was not good his last time out and that LaPorta AB did not inspire confidence.
I guess Jeter didn’t eat his Wheaties this morning.
LaPorta’s, then Hanrahan. But I don’t hear the drum. It’s too quiet out there…
This game is important especially because TB is off and Balt got PPD. So the Yanks can only lose ground if they lose.
Kipnis hit one back at Sori’s head. Only my urgent warning awakened the stunned giant from his lethargy.
lol….good going!
Scar-E!!
Wheeeew!!!!
Oh, Asdrubal made the fatal error: he lined it in the vicinity of Tex, the Vacuum.
Well, it’s time for Katie to take her pet human for a walk. So I’ll chat at ya tomorrow.
North of the BORDER we go, eh?
no, Jays come to us, pretty sure. No, Grandy said “in Toronto,” so yeah.
Michael Kay so wanted to say “SeeYa!” Yet, he did not step on that sacred ground in sacrilege. Thanks, God.
