Game 126-Yanks vs the Dodgers
..and Cleveland, sort of. But no one could have ever done more to help a Yankee rival than the Dodgers did last night. As I’m sure you know, the Dodgers and Red Sox made a blockbuster deal that effectively has given the Sox a get out of payroll jail free pass and granted them absolution for all of Theo’s latter day payroll sins. LA receives the very talented but under performing and unhappy Adrian Gonzalez and the remaining 5 years of his deal, along with the dead weight overpriced deals of Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett. That’s not enough? Fine, we’ll toss in 3 of our top 6 prospects and a backup infielder to boot. When the Sox traded for Beckett, they had to take what appeared to be a bad deal in Mike Lowell. The Dodgers are taking two bad deals AND giving up top talent. Ben Cherington gets GM of the year for this, I don’t care what happens next. He’s set up to spend big this off season AND has some interesting prospects either bring up in the coming years or to package for other needs. Brian Cashman’s job to stay stop the AL East within the constrictions of the 2014 189M mandate just got that much harder.
Here’s what ESPN’s Buster Olney has gathered as the consensus reaction to the deal:
Overwhelming first responses I have heard from rival execs about the deal: terrible value for the Dodgers, huge overpay in dollars, prospect
Think they’ll take A-Rod? Here’s your lineups from Yankee PR:
Jeter SS
Swisher RF
Cano 2B
Teixeira 1B
Granderson CF
Chavez 3B
Martin C
Ibanez DH
Ichiro LF
On the mound, the best pitcher in the rotation all season, Mr. Hiroki Kuroda.
GO YANKS!!!!

Most poker sites open to US players also provide online casinos accepting USA players. A good example of this is BetOnline.com, where you can play 3D casino games, bet on sports or play poker from anywhere in the United States.

Beckett is overpriced, acknowledged. But Crawford could come back strong, and the Dodgers didn’t have to pay for these two years. Gonzalez is a keeper. Don’t underestimate the Dodgers deal.
Crawford was never and will never be worth $20 mil/annum.
he’s barely better than Gardner….and is 31….and unlikely to maintain his foot speed which is most of his game.
Looking good at the start of the game. TB lost and the Yanks have their best pitcher on the mound tonight. Now if only the lineup can remember their jobs and score runs and make it an easy night for Oki-san.
Ugh. HBP, walk, 3-run HR. Looks like Oki-san just doesn’t have it tonight.
From GameDay it appears Oki-san can’t find the strike zone. Probably going to be his shortest stint this year.
seems he isn’t getting good break on either sinker or slider. He’s ok with the fb.
I’m watching his delivery. He threw a good slow curve and squatted more markedly. His gathering squat and hip turn is so much lighter and quicker than early in the season.
Wow! Tex just saved our bacon.
Maybe Oki-san is starting to settle in. But no hits through 3 innings. Masterson is not having a good year, they should be able to hit him rather easily.
Flash was bragging on the sinker move to strike out Santana. But whatever the record, Masterson is throwing good. Hell odf a sinker last inning.
- but Robbie just used one to bounce up to the left field wall! But then, a wicked little slider that Tex seems to have thought low, struck him out. Sharp break made him watch, though.
Kuroda looks fixed. Now Curtis needs to lead us off in the right direction.
Fixed? So, no more little Oki-sans?
more like his leaky muffler was replaced
lol
If Oki-san can limit the Native Americans to those 3 runs, then the Yanks have time to get to Masterson. Maybe the proverbial third time through the lineup. With that TB loss, a win would be big tonight.
the kettle is coming to a boil now. Ah, but Ichi popped off to deep center. Next time fer hopes sake.
Damn, more RISP fail.
Ouch, that’s at least his third slider that didn’t break, that Marson hit. Nice play by Martin to pick Marson off second.
Martin’s been throwing down to 2nd a lot recently.
Jete was ALL over that one. Shocking liner.
Disaster! Bases loaded and no outs!
Bases loaded. Third time seems the charm.
Nice, everyone tagged up.
YES nicely pointed out the Captain directed traffic. He pointed swish back to second, and Robbie saw it and complied.
Jeter’s ability to see what’s happening on the field is probably unsurpassed by any active player.
now that’s an “intangible” asset!
Called, Baseball instincts, some have it but, most don’t!
Foiled! Ah-ah caught it skipping one step to the wall.
Bases loaded no outs and bases loaded one out and they can only score one run??!!! Disgusting.
Two very well-hit, but insufficient, drives are to blame.
2 out of 3 Yankee fans think the Dodgers won that trade? Wow.
If Gonzalez gets his hiccuping power back, Beckett does a Burnett, and Crawford steals their hearts, maybe then they will break even.
I can’t remember where I saw it, but the best description I read was that the 2012 Dodgers won, but the 2017 Dodgers lost.
Come on Swish. You and Jeter did it last night, you can do it again.
Pistano shows a good tendency to jam with slider and fb. Inside! Ball four. Bases loaded.
Damn. Manny Acta visited Pistano after another couple inside pitches, and didn’t cover his mouth. Said, “Go after him,” and Pistano adjusted to the flipping corner. Just the right medicine, Manny. (Pistano only knows one gear, anyway, but he needed some nudge.)
Worse possible scenario….bases loaded. The Yanks have out hit the Native Americans 7 to 3 but underscored them 1 to 3!
It was them got that beautiful three run homer. One big hit.
At 98 pitches, that may be it for Oki-san. Gritty performance. Kept the Yanks in the game. It’s the hitters that are hurting recently.
Wow, Curtis notably. He used to be automatic on fb anywhere near the middle. He just musta lost his rythm, or his watch spring needs winding.
Nope, Hiro put his cap back on.
Man, Martin should’ve gone up the middle with that one. He rolled over a straight fb at the knees, down the middle. He can go to right when it’s outside, but you never see him shoot the middle.
Martin is wearing on my nerves. Even Cervelli could have hit better, especially in the clutch.
Gonzalez hit a 3-run HR in 1st AB as an Artful.
ha, go Adrian!
Katie had to go outside to do doggy duty, so I took the opportunity to wink at the moon in tribute to Neil Armstrong.
did the Man in the Moon wink back?
I’d like to think so.
I like Asdrubal Cabrera. He plays really hard.
Well now, this would certainly be a good time to break that Oh for streak on 9th inning comebacks.
In Yes Mo, it looked like a tie, Ichi and Asdrubal’s throw, after bobble.
Pathethic!
Ah, the Man in the Moon winked at Jete while that last slider broke. Sayonara, who’s pitching tomorrow?
Don’t remember.
Chat at ya later smurfy.
wish I could say “see ya!” but I forget how it sounds.
