Game 94-Phil Hughes, stopper
The Yanks turn to California native Phil Hughes to avoid losing 3 straight to the suddenly red hot A’s. Oakland is 12-2 in their last 14 and they send (what else) another rookie to the mound tonight, this time hard throwing righty Jarrod Parker. Parker is 6-4 on the year with a 3.16 ERA. Parker came to the A’s from the Diamondbacks in the Trevor Cahill trade this past winter. He has good strikeout (7.0/9) and Hit numbers (7.3/9) but has walked (4.1/9) a few too many. It will be interesting to see if the Yankees can take advantage of that after having little success executing their game plan last night.
In other Yankee news the Yanks sent Nick Swisher for an MRI on his balky hip. There’s no word as to the results yet, but Swishalicious is confident he’ll be able to avoid a DL stint. I believe him, we’ve seen him get (pardon the pun) nicked up before and he seems to be very proactive in not letting minor strains get worse.
Here’s your lineup, courtesy of Chad Jennings over at LoHud:
Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Mark Teixeira 1B
Raul Ibanez LF
Eric Chavez DH
Russell Martin C
Dewayne Wise RF
One more note. The big man, Mr Carsten Charles Sabathia turns 32 today, so we send out birthday wishes. Here’s to hoping the Yanks get him a win on his special day. GO YANKS!!!!!

Most poker sites open to US players also provide online casinos accepting USA players. A good example of this is BetOnline.com, where you can play 3D casino games, bet on sports or play poker from anywhere in the United States.

Base hit to start the game. How about some runs, you losers?
Up to Cano. Get it done.
2nd inning. Another lead off runner on. Let’s see if they can not waste this one.
Weak hacks on changeups and Ibanez goes to grab some bench.
Chavez singles. First RISP test of the day.
And first fail. Martin grounds into a DP.
Two good innings by Hughes.
Trivia question: I say Dave Stewart.
Infield single for Alex to open another inning.
RISP hit! RISP hit! Ibanez singled with a runner on thrid and two out! TWO OUT! It’s a miracle.
And Hughes gives it right back. Solo homer.
More RISP fail in the 6th. Still 1-1.
Howdy, Prof. I’ve been half-watching while I ordered a new computer. It’ll be like Xmas in July.
Hey. Dreary game. They haven’t hit at all this series.
starting pitching sure has been good, three nights in a row. 6 innings of good Philbert’s not bad. Cespedes has allayed doubts about Billy Beane’s judgement.
Horrible throw by Martin. Halfway decent throw and they would have had him.
sure enough.
Time for the 3-2 hook.
He went with the changeup. OK.
Runs, people, runs.
They just won’t listen! And they won’t hit it there, to the kid with the personalized sign, either.
That’s just rude.
7 innings, 1 run. Hughes did the job. 106 pitches, so I guess he’s not coming out for the 8th.

Looks like Beane knew what he was doing trading Cahill for Parker.
He’s at 100, maybe they’ll do us a favor.
What was Hughes doing out there after 106 pitches??
did you hear Coney: Phil, with his rising fb, needs to climb the ladder with it. Joe has him under orders to keep it down, but that’s what both homers were off.
That rundown was disgusting. Just horrible baseball.
Ho, ho. Logan hooked him, then let him get off the line. No fish.
there you go. Amends to cool your brow. (a little)
Forget it. I’m steamed.
2-1 losses bug me.
old Yankee fans? nah, they die from strokes.
I lived through Stump Merril, I’ll live through this.
At least they gave the kid a baseball.
Do they have anyone on the bench who can steal?
Arod, the masked bandit.
All right, Rodriguez stole the base, but Teixeira took a called third strike. He took three called strikes during that at bat.
windmills – 0, little ol’ A’s – very happy. See ya tomorrow.
