June 6 Game Thread
After a strong outing from Andy Pettitte yesterday, Ivan Nova looks to keep the Yankees’ momentum going against the Rays, and overcome his recent struggles. He will be opposed by youngster Alex Cobb. Lineups are below (courtesy of Chad Jennings). A win plus an Orioles loss puts the Yankees in first place, pretty impressive considering their subpar start to the season. Have fun, chat it up, and let’s go Yankees!

Most poker sites open to US players also provide online casinos accepting USA players. A good example of this is BetOnline.com, where you can play 3D casino games, bet on sports or play poker from anywhere in the United States.

Remember D-Day!!
Start of the night—-3 way tie for 1st. Yankees have 2nd worst BA w/RISP, Rays are next.
Could be a long night for listening to Nomar on ESPN2. He just raved about the Yankee defense because they have more Gold Gloves than errors this year.
Ugh. I’m blacked out.
ESPN, that is. I can watch YES.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s game on MLBN since it will be Costas.
Yeah, not loving the ESPN-2 crew.
Yankees are in the midst of a hot streak. A good game by Nova would keep them cruising.
Nova’s looking good through the first 2 innings. Lots of ground balls.
Is Teixeira coming around?
Personally, I’m not too concerned about Tex’s BA, as long as he hits 35 HRs & drives in 100+
Better that than 15 homers and 27 RBIs, but I’d sure love to have back the guy he was in ’09.
Man, I thought that was out, then I thought it was in the gap…but Granderson got it.
It definitely hung up there for a while
Yeah, it looked good off the bat. But the wrong part of the stadium.
I like the fact that Nova’s only thrown 52 [itches (34 for strikes) through 4 innings.
Not taking anything away from Nova, or Pettitte yesterday, but the Rays look terrible with the bat.
They (the Rays) had gone through a stretch where they were scoring quite a few runs. Hitting about their heads. I guess it caught up with them.
If Hideki Matsui is your cleanup hitter, your lineup probably isn’t very good.
Or if Pena is your lead-off hitter.
Wow, 6 innings, three hits for both teams combined.
That last Matsui fly out had me worried a bit, too.
What happens if at the end of the year there is a 5-way tie in the AL East? I know, a better chance of winning the lottery, but damn is this division tight.
one can only wonder: what a crapshoot.
Yeah a Nova wow. Great 7 innings. I’m a nervous nelly, tho, and would like him to retire now, fearing the longball. He had quite a battle with Zobrist, and Matsui nearly got to the fence.
Looking like the Super Nova of last year.
yeah, he successfully changed his game plan this time, as he said after the 12 k game two starts ago.
I hate this, Nova starts the game 6-2 with an ERA of 5.60 getting lots of run support. Tonight he’s pitching great on they’ve only scored 2 runs for him.
gotta blame Cobb and Arod, a little.
What’s wrong with that? Lots of wins.
Just that I’d feel better if the Yanks were up by 6 runs.
Hey, you may get your wish.
Nice curves to get Pena.
Hey, maybe another first cg so!
I bet we see Soriano if it’s still 2-0.
no body warming up.
Alright, a bit more cushion! Swish getting back some rightfield corner action.
I fit goes to 4-0, I think we get Nova again.
Now 4-0, yeah let Nova go for the SO.
One of these days that slide of Swisher’s is going to get him into trouble.
yeah, bound to bad hop him eventually. But he’s good at blocking it. If he waits for it to rattle around the corner, it’s a sure double, and bad luck brings three.
He comes up with the ball a lot when he slides. I don’t know how he does it.
my, my. Don’t they know a runner was in scoring position? Maybe they closed their eyes.
And starts the regression to the mean.
One hit w/RISP, then 3 outs!
two, right? Swish and Chavez
Wise, pr for Ibanez, was on 1st.
oh, yeah. But really, it’s a better accomplishment to drive in a guy from first than from 2cd.
Oh, well. So much for the shutout.
yeah, but nice game! Love this string of pitching.
Yeah, it’s been great.
Another scary fly ball from Matsui.
Yay! Matsui scared us about three times, but Swish hauled it in.
I think that’s the first 1,2,3 inning for Soriano this season.
he’s got great control, but he’s stingy with the strike zone. Tension mounts.
See y’all tomorrow night.
Have a good night, and a great day.
