After falling in game 1 following a shaky start from Andy Pettitte, the Yankees will try to rebound behind Ivan Nova, who will square off against noted tall person Chris Young.  Chat it up, have fun, and let’s go Yankees!

I want to see Super Nova the stopper tonight!

    • Michael says:

It would be nice to see Nova stop a losing streak. Someone has to hit Young hes pitching at batting practice speed

  2. Michael says:

Wowwww look at those numbers with RISP!! Jeez Cano…be a bit more selective up there mann

  3. Phil C says:

Soooooo FRUSTRATING!!!!! One thing’s for sure, anyone on first faster than Ibanez should steal. Young is VERY slow to the plate and Thoule has only thrown out 25% of runners.

  4. Phil C says:

Nice 1st inning for Nova, 8 pitches, 7 strikes.

  5. Michael says:

Why is Ibanez on the team? Him Garcia and Andruw do not help in any way shape or form. We can throw Wise into that group too. Your telling me Ronnie Mustelier can’t do what they do except provide better defense? Or Chris Dickerson?

  6. Phil C says:

I agree completely about Wise & Garcia. Ibanez is a very streaky hitter, he’ll get hot again, especially if they could keep him off the field. Jones, I’m up in the air about. He has power that’s for sure. What I’m worried about most is Gardner and whether we will see him again this season at all.

    • smurfy says:

Wise is a great defensive replacement, and both Jones and Ibanez are potent if not on it now. Dickerson is a good defensive man? Maybe Mustelier? Will he hit, or catch?

Gardner’s injury sure seems weird, to drag on healing, when it seemed a side issue. Maybe a repetitive injury thing?

  7. Phil C says:

I get the feeling that tonight is one of those games that the Yankee batters will take until the third time to figure out Young.

  8. Michael says:

I don’t know whats more frustrating. RISP fail or every single goddamn starter HAS to give up a home run every single start

    • Phil C says:

He hit a good pitch. Can’t get too upset about it, plus no one on. Nova looked sharper this inning than last inning. But I can understand your frustration.

  9. Michael says:

    …..baffling

  10. Phil C says:

How can I get Obama to call a drone strike of the Fox Sports booth at the game. Not only to I have to listen to Dumb & Dumber call the game, but the last half inning they had Charlie Sheen on speaking nonsense. I didn’t think anyone could show up Buck & McCarver on that score.

  11. Michael says:

    Errors are contagious

  12. smurfy says:

Poor super-Nova: nothing but bad calls (buk-buk), big errors by sure hands (except for Robbie), a homer on a pitcher’s pitch, splendid small balling, can he yet win?

    He’s a bulldog.

    • Phil C says:

I still have confidence in the Yankee bats coming alive late in the game, 6th inning onwards.

    • Michael says:

Not if the Yankees keep allowing Young to get out of innings after throwing 10 pitches. I know it all looks hittable guys but thats because it is. Wait for one you can really crush. Just…ughhh this looks like stuff I see at batting cages. Not that I am anything close to even a minor leaguer but cmonn

  13. Michael says:

Maybe if I don’t watch them hit. Im gonna run out and grab myself a sammich. Maybe they’ll do better?

  14. Phil C says:

Third time facing Young. Now start hitting guys!

  15. smurfy says:

-uhh! Does ignominy accrue to young Ivan for that? The pitcher?

  16. Phil C says:

Nova wasn’t great, but he pitched well enough and kept the score close.

  17. Phil C says:

I simply cannot figure out how Rapada & Eppley get anybody out, but they do.

  18. Michael says:

ahahaha don’t make it chicken. Funny stuff. This is crazy frustrating. Hahaha nice foul tip by Tex. Hit em where it hurts!

  19. Phil C says:

It’s pathetic when a walk signifies a rally.

  20. Professor Longnose says:

    Tie game!

  21. Michael says:

    Someone say rally?

  22. Phil C says:

OMG!!! Once again I’m having an LSD flashback, I though I just saw a hit w/RISP!

    • Professor Longnose says:

It was a home run, and we know home runs are bad, so it doesn’t count.

      • Phil C says:

Hey Professor, how’s your MiL doing?

        • Professor Longnose says:

Recovering from the initial attack; now she has to have a bypass. That’s good news; it means there’s viable heart muscle and function could come back. Keep your fingers crossed for her, and thanks for asking.

      • Michael says:

Yeah if it was a bases clearing single the media would’ve been happy. This only exacerbates the problem…

  23. Professor Longnose says:

If the Yankees can’t win a battle of the bullpens against the Mets, then…

I don’t know how to finish that.

  24. smurfy says:

wtf happened? I wwent outside to see the fireworks, when Ivan was pulled, and I come in now and Ibanez ties the game with a homer!

  25. Michael says:

Yup!!! Looks plenty fixed now hahaha

  26. Professor Longnose says:

Would have been foul?? What the hell is McCarver talking about. The angle is the same, no matter where the fences are.

  27. Professor Longnose says:

    Yankee dugout is really happy.

  28. Phil C says:

Now the Yankees need a shut down inning.

  29. Phil C says:

I hate all this talk about how many runs are scored via the HR. A run is a run. If they were hitting league average w/RISP that percentage would drop significantly.

    • Michael says:

If Ibanez and Chavez hit singles then the game wouldn’t be tied. The best outcome of an at bat is a home run. How can you have too many of the best outcome possible?

      Gardner wouldve had that…

  30. Professor Longnose says:

Logan the Loogy…sounds like a mythical beast.

  31. Professor Longnose says:

Wow, that was some fancy LOOGYing.

  32. Phil C says:

Great pitching by Booney. The defensive has been terrible tonight.

  33. smurfy says:

Oooh, that Foster’s speaks Australian for girl.

  34. Michael says:

    Woww who were THOSE two???

  35. Phil C says:

I hope this is the Robertson of last year coming in to pitch.

  36. Michael says:

    Not the same fastball control

  37. smurfy says:

would be Justin’s turn. The hero…

  38. Phil C says:

This is the Roberston prior to 2011. I think he’s still a little rusty. Still have faith he’ll shut them down.

  39. Professor Longnose says:

    Yes!

OK, 30 runs in the top of the ninth, just to ease my anxiety.

  40. Michael says:

Got him!!! Sit down hahaha God Robertson sure is fun when he comes through

  41. smurfy says:

Excellent to see Robertson jamming him. Like Ivan, he will benefit. But nothing like the high hard one!

  42. Phil C says:

    It’s the Playboy pitcher!

  43. I demand insurance runs.

  44. Phil C says:

Os & Rays have both lost tonight. The Yanks can expand the lead.

  45. Michael says:

Heading into the heart of the order. Time to earn that 13 million a year. Wonder if this year makes Soriano more or less likely to opt out? And which would you guys prefer?

  46. Professor Longnose says:

    Stiff backs can be worrisome.

  47. Phil C says:

Soriano just refuses to do 1,2,3 innings.

  48. Phil C says:

All the dudah day, and all the dudah…..good night!

  49. smurfy says:

    Nice slider to Duda.

  50. Phil C says:

    Love them come-from-behind wins!

  51. smurfy says:

Woah, I was sure Murphy had his first in a year. Joy to the world, and Nick gets the honor.

  52. Professor Longnose says:

    That’s it. Night, all.

    • Michael says:

Good stuff. Time to head out for the night. I guess after the commercial tonight I will be having a Fosters

  53. Phil C says:

    Chat ya’ll tomorrow night.
