Lost somewhere in all the hype about how is now the best pitcher in baseball is the fact that the Yankees have typically hit him well. Last night’s game was no different, as the bombers pulled off an impressive 7-6 come from behind victory to beat the Tigers. Today’s game doesn’t augur as kindly for New York. has struggled mightily this season. The Tigers, on the other hand, feature one of the deadliest lineups in baseball. Call me a pessimist, but I don’t see Sweaty Freddy getting through four. The Tigers will counter with . Game time is 4pm on Fox. Enjoy.

Sure it’s on Fox? My listings say YES, with Cardinals-Brewers on Fox.

  2. Professor Longnose says:

Garcia walks Austin Jackson to start the game. Not a good start.

  3. Michael Eder says:

    Nunez still terrible at baseball.

    • Professor Longnose says:

Patience is usually a good quality to show , especially around the Yankees. But with Hughes and Nunez, they haven’t really come up with anything except negative value. Sooner or later, though, maybe one of the guys they stick with a long time will work out. Maybe even Nunez.

Bleep those bleeping IBBs up your bleeping bleep, Girardi!

  5. Michael Eder says:

Garcia has looked terrible ever since being hit by that linedrive in st.

He was throwing harder before that, I think he’s injured.

  6. Phil C says:

OMG!!! Just checked the Gameday score (game not on any channel in Houston). There is no way Garcia should start another game unless he is injured and goes on the DL. This is as bad as Hughes last year.

  7. Professor Longnose says:

Quote of the day. Dave Dembrowski on Delmon Young:

“This was a person that was not in a very good state as far as his sobriety,” Dombrowski said.

Where did the line drive hit him, Michael?

    • Professor Longnose says:

Hey, smurph, I thought you had the good sense to tune out after the second inning.

      • smurfy says:

I sure had the good sense to avoid talking about it.

Swisha has shown himself a good hitter, yesterday and today.

And Prince gives a good show on popups.

        • Professor Longnose says:

I’ve been a fan of Swish since he came to the Yankees.

I am, too. But there has been something to the high pressure fail. During the season, he has done it, but it gets forgotten by poor playoff performance.

The other night Dave from Hawaii, he charged that the team cannot adjust to good pitching. I defended all but Swish, Tex and Alex, thinking of frustrating bug swings.

Swish changed his swing to connect with a low inside slider or cutter in the first. Usually I see him geared up, swinging from the heels, as he did from the left side in the ninth.

    oh, man, CHARGE!

I love it when Dr. Love has to earn his saves. Does he get a save for letting it get within ten feet of blown?
