Game Five: 陳偉殷 Who?
takes the mound for the Yankees tonight to try for the first winning streak of the year. In his 17.0 innings this spring, the righty held opponents to a 3.71 ERA, but was also able to keep opponents to a low .212 batting average. Garcia’s career numbers at Camden Yards include 46.1 innings and a 2.33 ERA. Against the lineup tonight, the 35 year old has largely been successful, though Markakis has a .385/.471/.615 line (5 for 13 with 3 walks) and has a .333/.385/1.000 line (4 for 12 with 1 walk and 2 homeruns).
Pitching for the Orioles will be rookie Taiwanese pitcher Wei-Yin Chen. In the NPB, Chen posted a 36-30 record and a 2.69 ERA with a fastball that sit low 90′s, a mid 80′s slider, and your typical repertoire of breaking pitches out of Japan. He was about as successful as Garcia this spring, going 20.0 innings with a 3.60 ERA. His major league debut against the Yankees should be a very difficult one, you can’t find an offense that hits left handers better. Of course, there is always the nagging narrative that will emerge if Chen does pitch well, the Yankees can’t hit rookie pitchers. (It’s bogus so don’t let me see those comments!) Here is the lineup each team will roll out.
Yankees | Orioles |
SS | ndy Chavez LF |
RF | SS |
2B | RF |
3B | CF |
1B | C |
CF | Nick Johnson (!!) DH |

The game starts at 7:05 pm EST on YES. GO YANKEES!

Most poker sites open to US players also provide online casinos accepting USA players. A good example of this is BetOnline.com, where you can play 3D casino games, bet on sports or play poker from anywhere in the United States.

NICK JOHNSON.
The margin of victory in the Yankees’ first game was 1 run. In the second game it was 2 runs. In the third game it was 3 runs. In the 4th game it was 4 runs.
The September games are going to be amazing.
Holy shot, Jeter. Welcome to the bigs, Chen.
If the Yankees had traded for Felix Hernandez instead of Pineda do you think the fans would be going as far with Felix’s velocity drop so far this year as they have been with Michael’s?
Probably even more, because the Yanks would have had to give up a lot more for Hernandez.
oh? skim the details, would you?
I love Kenny, but the ‘throwing at Nick Johnson’ conspiracy theory kinda went out the window on the 2nd wild pitch.
Freddy was pretty accurate with the beany ball.
Russell feeling muscle. Doesn’t help guessing.
bit of a sign stealing dispute, I surmise.
Russell muscled that throw down there.
blow good, Freddy
What’s this? A black ball?
Man, Martin screwed that up.
Yeah, Russell couldn’t grab it, and face the runner upon him.
We’re losing his battle.
shifty Jeter.
Yanks are lucky they’re in this game. Freddie’s been rotten, and they haven’t hit. But it’s still a game.
the whole point of contention tonight is the denied war of signs and countermeasures. Garcia’s performance is affected.
You think that’s it?
yeah, Garcia indicated on the pre-game show that the catcher is important to him, makes this a great place to play. Russell calls his game, either he or Freddy said.
Russell fighting the other team, Freddy throwing a Nick’s beany. Emotions have run high.
the other story, of course, is Chen: overcoming his fear, to pitch very impressively. Wouldn’t surprise me if the conflict distracted him or motivated him.
Steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal!
Chavez laid a nice egg.
If we wanted to see runs wild pitched in, we could have kept Burnett.
convinced Joe to leave him in, then he yanked another one.
make that a couple.
Now, into this pleasant atmosphere comes young David…
See ya, Professor.
Leaving?
Gardner comes through! Tie game!
Questionable call to send Swisher, but that was an absolutely textbook relay.
Yes, and it was close at that. Still, probably should have held him.
That punch out of Rodriguez was unbelievable.
Jeter’s gotta get the 9th started.
He did! You called it.
And he does. Up the middle yet again.
Swisher’s not in a groove yet. He’s overswinging.
Yea he’s been all or nothing since spring training. Remember all those games he missed though, I’m sure it still feels like spring training for him.
All right–the other team left the bases loaded.
Michael Kay must be grinding his teeth. He said on the radio this afternoon he was hoping for a short game so he could watch the second half of the Knicks game.
Cano leads off with a double. Got some help from Reynolds at third, but I’ll take it. Let’s get the run in.
All right, now they get a break from the wind. GOT to get that run in.
Ibaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanez! A run! Hellelujah!
Finally. Thats is one of the few instances when I say an intentional walk is alright, and Buck blows it.
Funny how that works out.
Mo broke a bat. Maybe he’s getting into form.
