We’re only a few days into spring training games and there is already news and stats to catch up on our once beloved Yankees.

  • Jesus Montero- His debut with the Mariners started with a bang and boo-boo. The catcher hit a homerun in his first game, but also took two foul ball ricochets during an at bat and had to leave the game. After missing a game, Montero returned to the field on Sunday where he went 1 for 3 with a double. So far he has his two extra base hits in his first six plate appearances. MLB Network caught up to Montero at camp where about his transition and .
  • - The righty started for the Mariners on Saturday. In his two innings, Noesi gave up two walks, two strikeouts, and went hitless. Apparently that improved velocity is for real, and Noesi looked impressive in his debut with the Mariners. There is some speculation that he might end up being the 3rd starter in the rotation too. Good for him.
  • - Returning to his hometown, Brackman has already impressed the coaches at the Red’s camp. He’s spent this offseason working on his mechanics and delivery, which were a huge problem last year, and was scoreless in his first outing. He pitched yesterday against the Mariners, and appeared to struggle with 2 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts, in his 2 innings of work. I hope he figures things out in Cincinnati, but he already appears to show the same command issues this year.
  • - In his first game with the Athletics, Colon went 2.2 IP, giving up 4 hits, 3 runs on a homerun, and striking out 1 against the Cubs. for Colon is that he’ll be starting the A’s second regular season game on the mound in Tokyo. Hard to believe its been a year since he posted a 1.93 ERA in 16 inning last spring training.
