Jorge Posada got hit with the bat flying out of Swisher’s hands as he struck out. He’s apparently OK, though.

Cool! Nunez singled, then stole second and third.

  3. Professor Longnose says:

The Rays are leading 2-1 inthe 5th, and they’re bringing the infield in. They’re really not confident in their hitting ability.

  4. Ugh I am so damn tired of Shields owning the Yankees. With the way they’ve managed to get to everyone else who’s typically stifled them, I figured for sure they’d finally figure Shields out. Blech.

    Also, damn you BABIP.

Most likely, though, you won’t have to see him in the playoffs.

Girardi’s not playing Teixeira, Granderson, Montero, or Martin, so today probably wasn’t the day they were going to get to him anyway.

    And it ain’t over yet.

  6. Professor Longnose says:

Single, stolen base, walk knocks Shields out of the game in the 8th. His pitch count was getting up around 120 anyway.

Cano doubles in 2 of the lefty Howell! 4-2 Yanks, with Shields in line to get the loss.

i would like to clinch first game vs sux.. just have them go back to their rooms or bars in NYC and hear the sounds of victory from yankee fans..so it would be nice if we swept them and the three games at the end of the year vs rays we lost..

Congratulations, Yankees! Once again, the Beast of the East!

David Robertson, bases loaded, one pitch, no problems.
Swish when we need it, and Jorge, sweetness.

Great stuff. And it calls to mind as we head into the postseason that pitchers don’t “duel” with the other pitcher, but with the other teams offense….I pity the fools that have to face a lineup that seems to be just hitting it’s stride.
