Sony to Debut Smartphone Games Next Year

Sony American depositary shares were slightly higher pre-market Wednesday after the Japanese electronics giant said it will release as many as six smartphone games in its upcoming fiscal year that starts in April.

The company also unveiled Project Field, a device that allows players to interact with real-world objects such as cards and figures to control games on smartphones and tablets.

Separately, Sony said sales of its Playstation 4 video game console surpassed the 50 million unit mark as of Dec. 6, helped by strong demand during the US Thanksgiving week.
