Financial Stocks Falling Moderately

Financial stocks were drifting lower today, with the NYSE Financial Sector Index falling about 0.4% while financial companies in the S&P 500 Index were posting a 1.1% decline in recent trade.

In company news, Square Inc (SQ) shares were climbing Friday after analysts at Deutsche Bank today raised their investment call for the payment processing and financial services company to buy from hold.

The upgrade follows a small gain for Square shares after CEO Jack Dorsey last month disclosed plans to sell about 7% of his equity stake in the company over the next 12 months through a pre-arranged stock-trading program.

SQ shares were up almost 3% at $13.05 apiece, easing for a prior advance this morning to a session high of $13.27 a share.
