Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group, the owner of Sullivan’s Steakhouse, said Monday its chief executive will retire and will be replaced by a member of the board of directors.
CEO Mark Mednansky has chosen to retire, the company said, and will be replaced by director Norman Abdallah. Southlake, Texas-based Del Frisco owns 52 restaurants in 24 states and Washington DC including Double Eagle Steak Houses and Del Frisco’s Grille.
Abdallah will become chief executive immediately, the company said. Mednansky, who’s been with Del Frisco for 18 years, will remain with the company through the end of the year “to ensure a seamless and orderly transition of leadership and responsibilities,” Del Frisco said in a statement.
“Now is the appropriate time for me to retire from Del Frisco’s and for new leadership to drive the company into the future,” Mednansky said. “We have built three strong concepts and I am so proud of the culture and quality people that make Del Frisco’s exceptional.”
Abdallah was most recently an operating partner for CIC Partners, prior to which he served as interim chief executive of Dinosaur BBQ. Prior to that he “led the turnaround” at Romano’s Macaroni Grill, the company said.
